Noir Jazz Project is made up of Kris Spiteri on the piano, Edward Ellul on bass and Alex Debono on drums.
Noir’s debut was in the Malta Jazz Festival of 2006. From then on the trio has had several gigs on the island, including ‘Longing’, a concert at St James Cavalier in 2011. Noir feature on Nadine Axisa’s album ‘Velvet’ with two of their original tracks: ‘Stormy Night’ and ‘Birds’. Noir also played the 2015 Jazz festival and are currently recording the material played in the same festival
Pianist Kris Spiteri graduated in Music Studies and Music Education from the University of Malta and studies under Dave Frank from the Lennie Tristano legacy. Last year he played in Malta and Berlin with Axisa, Roberto Badoglio and drummer Andrea Marcelli. Kris is the composer of the music played by Noir.
Bassist and vocalist Edward Ellul has been active in the music scene for over 20 years. He recorded with Paul Giordimaina on ‘Letters to Bernie’ and with Vinny Vella Jr on ‘Another Way’.
At 17 Alex Debono was chosen to play at the Malta Jazz Festival, 1996 with Mro Paul Abela, making him, to date, the youngest musician, to have played, at this prestigious event
