This 4 week course will is suitable for those with little or no previous dance experience. You will be taught step by step a beautifully choreographed contemporary routine by the incredible Sophie Duncan. £25 for 4 weeks or £7 drop in. Limited to just 11.
Originally from Chesterfield, Sophie Duncan is a contemporary dancer and award winning choreographer, creating work for theatre, circus and dance. She trained at London Contemporary Dance School receiving her BA Degree in Contemporary Dance and Choreography. Even before graduation Sophie was performing and creating at home and internationally. London’s ‘The Old Vic’, ‘Teatru Maria Fillotti’, Romania and ‘Waterford Theatre Royal’, Ireland are some of the world renowned establishments she has been connected with before ,in July of 2012, she embarked upon a three year performance contract with one of the worlds largest productions, Franco Dragone’s ‘The House Of Dancing Water’ in Macau, China. There, she performed as a dancer and House Troupe Acrobat whist continuing her own creative work. The most successful creation, ‘LODDO’, was a charity event raising over 34,000HKD (£3500) for charity. She returned to Europe in November 2015to perform in the all female circus ‘Gynoïdes’, in Stockholm to critical acclaim. Most notably, she performed with Cirque Du Soleil’s ‘Scalada Vision’ this year, to over 100,000people over 6 weeks, and in September, her second Romanian creation, ‘COLUMBINUS’ won the award for ‘Best Show’ at The National Theatre, Bucharest’s Teen Fest. 2016 also saw the launch of NGDance, which Sophie co-founded with Ballet Dancer and long term friend Joshua Ecob, teaching ballet, contemporary and choreography to students aged 9 - 18, and is receiving an incredibly positive response. 2017 will be an exciting year seeing Sophie creating several new shows overseas, developing NGDance, and expanding her teaching outreach, until she returns to Macau as Dance Captain on a brand new spectacle, produced by MGM.
