From June 8 – 11, CSz Indianapolis, Home of ComedySportz , is hosting the 2016 ComedySportz World Championship at The Basile Theatre, located inside the Historic Athenaeum Building in downtown Indianapolis. For the 28th Annual ComedySportz World Championship, teams from across the country and Europe meet in Indianapolis to battle in a series of madcap improvisation matches, city verses city, to test their improv mettle. Only one city will remain standing, triumphant, over all other CSz cities to claim the title of ComedySportz World Champions and take home the Championship Trophy.
Billed as the largest comedy event Indianapolis has ever seen, the 2016 World Championships hosts over 20 cities from around the globe, with over 250 professional improvisers, for a week-long event of workshops and public matches. In addition to fierce competition every night, this yearly event gives players the opportunity to network and attend workshops throughout the day and showcase their skills in presentations that are available to all attending performers.
Previous World Championships began in Milwaukee and have been held in numerous other cities such as Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Austin, Portland, Los Angeles and more. Last year, the 2015 World Championships were highly successful in Quad Cities, Iowa. Indianapolis is proud to have been a city chosen twice in five years, which is a large statement regarding CSz Indianapolis' ability to create a successful Championship. The city of Indianapolis and the establishments along Massachusetts Avenue will benefit greatly from this event and CSz Indianapolis looks forward to showing off their beautiful state capital to the world.
A portion of the ticket sales during World Championship will be donated to the Indiana State Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Founding Member and co-owner of CSz Indianapolis, Mia Lee Roberts, has been personally battling her own MS diagnosis for many years and is a great supporter of the National MS Society, recently raising thousands for the recent MS Walk on April 23, 2016.
Tickets can be purchased individually to each public match, or guests may choose a Day Pass, or a Super Fan Pass to see every match.
