Party: Catastrophe Club Presents: 'Waltz with Bashir' Screening & Discussion

Tuesday 30th June | 7.30 pm (doors from 7.00) | FREE | Passing Clouds, Dalston, E8 4AA

The Hackney Palestine Solidarity Campaign is putting on a FREE showing of the film 'Waltz with Bashir'.

Israeli filmmaker Ari Folman wrote, directed and stars in this autobiographical animated film. As a 19-year-old infantry solider in the 1982 invasion of Lebanon, Folman witnessed the Sabra and Shatila massacre, but realises that he has no memory of the event. In 2006, he seeks out others who were in Beirut at the time to discuss their memories, including a psychologist specialising in post-traumatic stress disorders and the first journalist to cover the massacre.

Former journalist Jonathan Wright, who lived under Israeli siege in West Beirut for three months through the summer of 1982, will speak about his experience of the events and chair a discussion of the film.
