Party: Portland Camera Club - Streets of Portland - Meet up

DETAILS: Join accomplished photographer Eric Holsinger (and PCC member) on the streets of Portland to capture images of a city starting it’s day! Learn more about Eric’s style on his website: http://holsingerphoto.com/

We’ll meet at Bard Coffee by Tommy's Park at 8AM where we’ll meet and greet and then hit the streets. We’ll move on to Monument Square where we’ll meet at 9AM to share what we've seen and what we missed. From there we’ll head toward the Commercial Street Starbuck's where we’ll meet at 10AM, show off successes and of course complain about missed opportunities! We’ll enjoy 2 full hours of street shooting in the morning. There will be a ship in port that morning; scheduled 8am-5pm. So the city will be busy!

TYPE OF PHOTOGRAPHY: Open. Basic to Advanced, with a focus on Street Photography

SUGGESTED GEAR: Be sure to bring a camera you know well, and our goal will be to get the photo without trying to remember how to change your exposure!

An iPhone or a small camera with a 35-50mm lens (or equivalent) is a great suggestion for getting intimate images on the street. An inexpensive 28-70mm kit lens would be pretty sweet.
If the thought of being close to people makes you nervous about having to speak with someone, you'll probably be surprised how cool people are. But, perhaps a longer focal lens (85mm, 70-200mm) might make you feel more comfortable.

Eric will be using a little Panasonic DMC Lx-100. It's a small point and shoot style camera with accessible dials and controls, which he feels comfortable using. It has a zoom, but he shoots in 35mm focal length all of the time.

Parking Information:
Carpooling is encouraged! Portland Parking, you might be able to get validated parking depending on where we visit. Parking meters are $1.25/hr in Portland.
Cumberland County Parking Garage (Courthouse) would be about $8 from 7:30 to 10:30. Every other garage would be $15+.
