We are very excited to welcome living legend Louis Hayes back to the The 9th Note! At age 18 Mr. Hayes was a member of the Horace Silver Quintet and recorded "Six Pieces of Silver," which launched him into the jazz world as a force to be reckoned with. In 1959 he joined the Cannonball Adderley Quintet, and in 1965 he joined Oscar Peterson and was known as part of the "dynamic duo" with bassist Sam Jones.
Mr. Hayes has played and recorded with Freddie Hubbard, Kenny Barron, Junior Cooke, Woody Shaw and Dexter Gordon, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, J J Johnson, Sonny Rollins, Jackie McLean, Wes Montgomery, Joe Henderson, Cedar Walton, George Benson as well as Ravi Shankar, John Lee Hooker and others...
