A raffle to be on-going throughout the day for the charity Muscular Dystrophy UK (MD). This charity for 70,000 people living with muscle-wasting conditions in the UK. It brings together people affected by more than 60 rare and very rare progressive muscle-weakening and wasting conditions. Since 1959 they have been supporting families living with muscle-wasting conditions. They provide vital information, advice, resources and support for people with these conditions, their families and the professionals who work with them.

Muscle-wasting conditions are very rare, affecting just over one in every 1,000 people. As a result, some health professionals may never come across anyone with a muscle-wasting condition and may not know much about them. Burton RFC supports this charity because in September 2014 Gary, the eldest son of Martyn Evans our Treasurer, was diagnosed with this genetic condition. It came as a huge shock to both Gary and the rest of the family and they are still coming to terms with this. MD have provided fantastic support and not only continue to help Gary but provide funds for researching a cure for this debilitating condition.
