FAQ
Do I need a partner?
No, but you can bring one if you can find one
--
How much do the classes cost?
£10 per week (2 hr class)
£25 per month*
--
What should I wear?
Wear whatever you feel comfortable in - Most people wear casual clothes. Something you might wear if you were going to the pub maybe.
--
What footwear is recommended? Whatever you wear on your feet should 1. Stay on your feet, so straps, laces or a closed in shoe is good and 2. Slide a little on the floor. Anything too grippy, like trainers aren't good. You want something that will slide a little to make turns easier. (We can advise you about footwear if you're unsure).
--
Am I too old?
Only if you think you are. We've had people of all ages at our classes including people in their 70's and 80's. As long as you can walk at a reasonable rate, you'll be able to keep up with the basics and we love having a wide range of ages at our classes.
--
Am I too young?
We have a really wide variety of ages at the lower end too. Quite a few people in their 20's, and a few teens. Although our class is an adult class, you're more than welcome to come along if you're under the age of 18, but you will need to come with an adult. Please let us know in advance too.
--
What sort of music do you play?
We play a lot of salsa music, obviously, but we also play R&B and chart music, so if you don't like salsa yet, hopefully there will be something you love. Also it will get you used to dancing salsa to recogniseable music so you can get up and dance the next time you're out clubbing/at a party or wedding.
--
Can I get a drink there?
Yes there's a bar at the venue.
--
Is there anywhere to park?
Yes, a large free car park at the front of the venue.
--
When can I start?
We usually start new beginners on the first Tuesday of each month and this is ideal, but if it's inconvenient, message me to let me know and we can arrange for you to start on any week that's best for you. You'll get free personal tuition to bring you up to speed with everyone else.
--
I can't make it every week. Does that matter?
No, as long as you get the basics down (usually takes a week or two), you can then treat the class like a drop in class and come along when it's suitable or convenient for you. Obviously it's best (and chaeper) if you come each week, but we understand that that's not always possible.
--
I've done some salsa before, which class should I start in?
Obviously it depends on how much and when, but we usually recommend starting a level down from when you last left off. If you find the class too easy, just move up the following week, or of you find it harder than you were expecting, move down a level. We can advise you and provide an assesment if necessary.
