Welcome to the University of Alberta Dance Club. As the largest dance group on campus with over 1700 active members yearly, our organization offers an extensive range of classes and activities. Regardless of your dancing ability, there is something in the club for you.
If you're interested in instruction, the club offers 8 classes each week for nine weeks per term, ranging from beginner to advanced (Newcomer to Silver). Overall, our club teaches the 10 dances found in International Ballroom Syllabus, including Waltz, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep, Foxtrot, Tango, Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Jive, and Paso Doble.
We also feature workshops with some of the best dancers in Canada as well as a three day Dance Camp around the Christmas holidays.
If you're looking for a little practice, Open Practice Dance Sessions are held once a week during the fall and winter terms where Teaching Assistants are available to help you learn.
Wanting to meet new people? The UADC offers a wide variety of social events. In addition to dance socials, the Club also hold Halloween and Valentines Day dances, and at the end of each term a formal ball at the Shaw Conference Centre.
The Club's formal events feature three course dinners, string quartets, and the largest dance floor in town. They also provide an opportunity to "Put on the Ritz" with black tie being the order of the day. The Top Hat and Tails dance is the jewel in the club's social events crown is and what dancing at its very best is all about.
And all this costs little more than a song and dance. As a student group we try to keep costs to a minimum and nowhere in the city will you receive so much for so little. Check out our website www.uadc.ca for information about our upcoming events.
